POZERSKIS IN FOCUS
Directed by Joris Skudra
SYNOPSIS
The documentary explores the narrow relationship between artists and the context they live in, by portraying the journey of Lithuanian photographer R.Požerskis. Audiences will follow the psychological effects of creating under repressive conditions of the Soviet Union, and the resilience needed to adapt to capitalistic standards. The film prompts reflection on the power of art to shape and be shaped by political forces, and the challenges artists face in finding their place in shifting realities.
CURATORS ROLE
As the curator for this feature-length documentary, I provided integral support to the director in shaping the film's concept from its earliest stages through post-production and defined elements such as the film's logline, synopsis, and director's statement. Together, we co-created and balanced the storyline and script. With valuable insights, I played a crucial role in elevating the film's theme from a national focus to one of global significance.
Additionally, I crafted promotional materials to showcase the film at festivals around the world. This documentary has been well-received on prestigious documentary platforms such as IDFA, Beldocs, Baltic Sea Docs, and Vilnius Meeting Point, where it won the Best Pitch Award.
